Who we are
HigherStack Forms ("we") provides self-hosted form software. Because the product is self-hosted, the operator of each installation is the data controller for submissions collected through their forms.
What we collect
On our marketing site we collect basic, non-identifying analytics (page views, device, referrer) via Google Analytics to understand traffic. Form submissions you collect with the product are stored in your own infrastructure, not ours.
Submission & attribution data
When a respondent submits a form, the platform stores the answers together with technical attribution metadata: the submitter's IP address, browser user-agent, the page URL and referrer, campaign parameters (utm_*) and advertising click identifiers (such as gclid, fbclid, ttclid) present on the page, and Meta's first-party cookies (_fbp/_fbc) when set. This data is used to attribute submissions to marketing campaigns and, where the form owner has enabled it, to report conversions to advertising platforms (Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn). When conversions are reported, email addresses and phone numbers are normalized and SHA-256 hashed before transmission; raw values are never shared with ad platforms.
Consent
Form owners embedding forms on their sites are responsible for obtaining any consent required from their visitors. The embed honors a consent signal: when the host page sets window.hsFormsConsent = 'denied' (for example from a consent-management platform), no attribution identifiers are collected — see the embed guide.
Retention
Submissions and their attribution metadata are retained until the form owner deletes them (individually or by deleting the form). Delivery logs for integrations and conversions are retained for operational monitoring.
Cookies & analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 on this website (only on forms.higherstack.ca). You can opt out via your browser or an ad/tracking blocker.
