Recovering abandoned responses
Capture in-progress answers and win people back with an automatic email sequence and resume links.
Most people who start a form never finish it. With partial capture you keep what they typed, and with abandoned-response recovery you automatically email them a link that reopens the form with their answers restored — so finishing takes seconds.
Turn it on
- In the form’s Access settings, enable Capture partial responses. In-progress answers now appear under the Partial tab of the form’s submissions.
- Enable Recover abandoned responses and choose which field holds the visitor’s email.
- Configure the sequence — up to 5 emails, each with its own delay after the visitor’s last activity (e.g. 1 hour → 1 day → 3 days).
What each email says
Every step is fully editable: subject, heading, message, button label and footer, plus a sender name for the whole sequence. Anything you leave blank falls back to a well-written default in the form’s language, and the tone progresses automatically — friendly nudge first, “last chance” framing at the end. Use {{field}} tokens anywhere to personalize with their saved answers, e.g. “Hi {{name}}”. Emails carry your form’s logo and accent color.
Resume links
Each email’s button opens the form with the visitor’s saved answers restored, and their session continues — so if they submit, the recovery sequence stops automatically. It also stops if they unsubscribe, and it never contacts responses that were started before you enabled recovery.
Tracking what was sent
The Partial tab shows a Recovery emails column: a badge like ✉ 2 sent, with the full history on hover — which step, when, and the subject line, including skipped (unsubscribed) or failed attempts.
Want these emails to come from your own address, like info@yourcompany.com? Set up a custom sending domain, then put that address in the sequence’s From address. Or simply set a Reply-to — no setup needed.
Recovery emails go to people who never submitted — make sure your audience has consented to hear from you and your privacy notice covers partial capture. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribed recipients are never emailed again.
Partial responses (and their send history) are kept for 30 days after the visitor’s last activity, then deleted automatically. A completed submission clears its partial record immediately.
